After a successful year of implementing Special Event Recycling and Litter Abatement at special events on the Monterey Peninsula, Ecology Action in partnership with Monterey Regional Waste Management District (MRWMD) and the California Department of Conservation (DOC), Ecology Action announces the arrival of three new ways to recycle in the Monterey Bay Area.
Beginning this year, Ecology Action is offering expanded Special Event Recycling throughout the Monterey Bay Area including the Monterey Peninsula, coastal unincorporated Monterey County as well as Santa Cruz County, and the Cities of Capitola, Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley and Watsonville. Look for new recycling bins at the next event you attend.
As part of our effort to provide recycling services to the nearly ten million tourists visiting our region each year, Ecology Action will also provide expanded commercial recycling services for the Monterey Peninsula and coastal unincorporated Monterey County at bars, restaurants and hotels.
Finally, Ecology Action has partnered with local Housing Authorities, waste reduction agencies and solid waste & recycling haulers to deliver increased beverage container and other recycling opportunities to the underserved low-income multifamily housing facilities of the Monterey Bay Area in over 40 Monterey Bay Area communities.
All three new ways to recycle expand existing recycling services by implementing convenient and consistent recycling program services across a broad geographic region. These projects are a result of cooperative partnerships with the Monterey Regional Waste Management District (MRWMD), Monterey County Environmental Health Division (MCEHD), County of Santa Cruz Public Works Department (SCCPW), Housing Authority of the County of Monterey (HACM), Housing Authority of the County of Santa Cruz (HACSC), Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority (SVSWA), City of Monterey, BFI of Salinas (BFI), Waste Management (WM), Tri-Cities Disposal (TCD), Monterey City Disposal (MCD), and Green Waste Services (GWS) and are made possible by grant funding from the California Department of Conservation (DOC).
