Ecology Action has
two events, Annual
Coastal Cleanup and Bike
Week,
which need a tremendous amount of volunteers to
make them a success.
Annual
Coastal Cleanup is
currently recruiting Beach Captains for this
year’s event. Beach Captains
attend an evening training prior to the event and
will be assigned a beach to help assist in the
cleanup. Primary responsibilities include attendance
of the evening training, arrival at your assigned
beach at 8 am the day of the event, briefing
volunteers on cleanup procedures, providing volunteers
with cleanup supplies, and remaining at the beach
to answer volunteer questions.
Annual
Coastal Cleanup also
needs volunteers to help clean up our local beaches
and waterways. Simply show up to your beach or
waterway cleanup location of choice at 9
AM. Each cleanup location will have a Captain
who will provide you with cleanup bags and instructions.
Please be sure to bring gloves, sun protection,
and water to ensure you enjoy your cleanup experience.
If you have a group of 10 or more people, please
register with our Cleanup Coordinator so that
we can send you to a location that will be best
served by a large group.
Bike
Week occurs annually during the third week
of May. This event encourages and inspires people
to commute by bicycle by organizing free events
throughout the week, culminating on Bike to Work
Day (Thursday during the week) where volunteers
hand out free breakfast to bicycle commuters. This
amazing event is completely volunteer driven, and
a great way to meet folks in the Santa Cruz area,
especially at the volunteer thank you party held
at the end of the week. Visit www.Bike2Work.com to
get involved.

work, or are interested in possible internships at
